A day to discuss Editorial Design with some of the most well-renowned designers in the Spanish scene given their impeccable craft and composition treatment such as Paula Chalkho, Sonia Sánchez, and Pol Pérez. Each one will present their own selection of five projects they found inspiring and will end with one of their own doing.
Design Hero: David Pelham
Designer and illustrator David Pelham was the Art Director at Penguin Books from 1968 to 1979. With his arrival, Pelham was ready to change the aesthetic of the previous years at the publishing house. He proposed the idea to treat each cover as a blank canvas for different artists to express themselves.

YSS: … is design a political institution?
GR: Absolutely. I believe that everything I have done in my life has been a response to my environment: to socio-political concerns but also to simple matters with which I have placed myself in a dialogue or a context. Individual communication can only take place when it has a socially meaningful basis. Otherwise it is just decoration and tinsel.
